“TAWASOL IS DUBAI AIRPORT FREEZONE’S LINK TO THE COMMUNITY AND SPEARHEAD TO RELIEF EFFORTS TO OTHER COUNTRIES IN TIME OF NATURAL DISASTERS,” -  YOUSUF BEHZAD
 
Dubai Airport Freezone’s Tawasol (link) swung into action the moment Al Wasl Hospital appealed for blood donation. By two pm of January 5 a total of 110 people have already heeded the hospital’s plea for blood donation.
 
Abbas Rizvi, who worked at the Freezone’s Welding Group and is more popular to children in Dubai as Quizmaster Wiz Abbas was spotted as one of the donors. Wiz Abbas, who is donating blood for the first time is giving 450 ml of his blood and said he will come again next time around “This is a noble campaign which benefits people.”
 
Mohammed Ismail, a UAE national who worked at the Finance Department of the Freezone is also a first time donor. He said, “By donating blood I am able to help people. I also heard that donating blood is healthy as it regenerates blood.”
 
Mr. Yousuf Behzad, Executive Director of the Freezone’s Human Capital and Strategy Department said Tawasol is the Freezone’s link to the community. “Other Tawasol activities include visits to old people’s homes, special needs centre where we help them to conduct fund raising activities by selling the handicrafts produced at their centre to companies in the Freezone.”
 
He added that Tawasol also leads in relief efforts to other countries in times of natural disasters.
 
Rashid Al Mulla, Tawasol team leader said “We spearhead the effort to donate blood every three months since April, 2005. This time we are doing it earlier than planned due to an appeal from Al Wasl that their stock of blood is getting low.”
 
Sanaa Al Muntasir, assistant Tawasol team leader said members of Tawasul come from different sections and departments of the Dubai Airport Freezone.
 
Apart from Rashid and Sanaa, other members are Omar Al Nuaimi, Samar Qaisar, and Ahmed Wbair.
 
A total of four medical technicians, a nurse and two assistants from Al Wasl Hospital collected blood from 9am to 2pm.
