"With the FIFA World Cup 2010 around the corner, FIFA fans around the world are itching to show off their skills in this year's FIWC tournament and we guarantee they won’t be disappointed. This is a great example of what happens when you take one of the world's best-selling games, mix it together with the world's favourite games console and open it up to the community. We are expecting to see great regional talent and wish the UAE participants good luck!” said Tim Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director, PlayStation Division – Sony Gulf.
FIWC is the world's largest football gaming tournament. Players from all around the world compete, hoping to qualify for the Grand Final and ultimately be crowned the new FIFA Interactive World Champion. This highly anticipated event gives you the opportunity to challenge other players at the stand. Last year FIWC saw over 10,000 players compete at 19 global live qualifier events, whilst a staggering 515,000 players picked up their PlayStation 3 controllers and went head-to-head as they tried to claim one of the 13 available online qualification spots.
Following the culmination of this year’s competition in Barcelona, the FIWC World Champion will be crowned officially at the FIFA World Player Gala 2010, a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the real life football stars in person.
