Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) and the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio are participating in the Arab Health Congress from 25 – 28 January 2010. SKMC is owned and operated by SEHA, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, which is responsible for the delivery of health care in all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. SEHA is the leading sponsor for the Arab Health Conference & Exhibition 2010.

More than 30 physicians from SKMC and the Cleveland Clinic are presenting lectures in the following conferences; Cardiovascular Diseases, Anesthesia, Surgery, and Quality conferences during the Arab Health Congress. SKMC is also chairing the Cardiovascular Disease and the Quality Management in Healthcare conferences.

The Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education and Institute for International Research (IIR) Middle East recently partnered to significantly expand quality continuing education activities in the Middle East.

“The collaboration between Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education and IIR Middle East allows us to broaden quality continued medical education activities benefiting the local community as well as the region beyond,” said William Carey, M.D., Director for the Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education.

SKMC is also shortlisted for the Arab Health Awards 2010 under two categories: Excellence in Surgery Services Award and Excellence in Hospital Emergency Department Award.

Commenting on that, Dr. Tej Maini CEO of SKMC stated, “We are proud to take part of such an important medical meeting as the Arab Health Congress 2010. We are aware that more than 5500 healthcare professionals worldwide will be attending these conferences, and the participation of our physicians as speakers and as attendees illustrates SKMC’s commitment to state-of-the-art treatment and promotion of Continuous Medical Education (CME).”

As the Chair of the Quality Management in Healthcare and the Cardiovascular Disease conferences of the Arab Health Congress, Dr. Samer Ellahham, Chief Quality Officer of SKMC said, “The conferences during the Arab Health Congress are all sponsored for the first time by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for Continuous Medical Education. Speaking about the Cardiovascular Disease and Quality conferences, I could say that they include state-of-the-art presentations by international experts in both fields highlighting the most recent advances in clinical and academic settings.”

SKMC encompasses several “Centers of Excellence” serving as the flagship institution for Abu Dhabi’s public health system and is governed by its commitment to practice modern medicine to the same high standards as the best medical facilities in the world. SKMC earned the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for its Surgical & Medical Pavilions as well as its 14 outpatient specialty clinics and the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank on April 2008. In June 2009, SKMC was also accredited as a Cycle III Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC), an achievement bestowed to only a dozen hospitals in the world. SKMC is the first hospital outside the USA to attain this accreditation for its Cardiac and Emergency services.
