Regional participants of the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2010 (FIWC 2010) came to the Dubai Mall, to battle it out in the UAE feeder event. Mohammed Abu Zayed of Palestine was crowned the winner of the UAE feeder event of the FIWC 2010.
The FIWC 2010 feeder event, which took place over this past weekend, saw participants from all over the region compete for the opportunity to partake in the quarter final. The winner will be representing the UAE and be flown to Italy to participate in the Quarter Finals of the Live Qualifier event for a chance to compete and secure a place at the FIWC10 Grand Final, which will take place in Port Olympic, Barcelona, Spain on 1st May 2010.

“Participating in this event was a great experience and chance to meet other gaming enthusiasts within the region. This is a dream come true! I now look forward to traveling to Italy and competing in the quarter finals.” commented Mohammad Abu Zayed, who won on Saturday and will be proudly representing the UAE.

“We wanted to create an exceptional gaming competition that combined all nationalities and ages together in one tournament. We were overwhelmed by the response and enthusiasm of the players,” commented Tim Stokes, Sales & Marketing Director, PlayStation Division, Sony Gulf FZE. “Dubai Mall was flooded with gaming and football fans, all wanting to play one another, and each hoping to represent the country in the quarter finals in Italy.”

The FIWC 2010 has received an overwhelming number of entrants, both online and directly at the stand. The FIWC has become one of the largest and fastest growing sports gaming competitions in the world with players from around the globe on EA SPORTS™ FIFA 2010 for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) in a bid to become FIFA Interactive World Player and receive USD 20,000 in prize money.
