Dubai Modern High School hosts Modern World Debates

- St. James School from India declared winner
Dubai Modern High School hosted the first international inter-school debate competition in the UAE, with students from a variety of countries debating an array of globally relevant topics.
The Modern World Debates were held over three days, giving students from schools in the UAE, the UK and India a chance to interact with their peers and hone their debating skills.
St. James’ School from India came in first place, beating nine other schools. Aditya Doshi from St. James’ School also won the ‘best debater’ award for using top debating techniques during the final five rounds.
La Martiniere School for Boys another school from India came in second, while Jumeirah College, a GEMS Education school from the UAE, came in third place. During the competition, the schools debated on key topics such as, ‘a world without borders’, ‘teaching is no longer a noble profession’ and ‘the media is overplaying its role’.
Modern World Debates 2010, which will be hosted annually by Dubai Modern High School, highlights GEMS commitment to nurture students to become world citizens.
