RTA clinches best IT Governance Application Standards Award

Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has clinched the Best IT Governance Application Standards Award; which is aligned with criteria set by The Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) in Government Departments Category 2009 presented by Financial Control Dep’t of the Dubai Government.
 
The Award was received on behalf of the RTA by the CEO of RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector Abdullah Al Madani, in the presence of the Director of Information Technology Dep’t Abdullah Al Bastaki and several RTA officials in the Award distribution ceremony organized at Park Hyatt Hotel in Dubai; where RTA won the Award at the level of Dubai Government departments. It is worth noting that COBIT, which is supervised by Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) covers key processes which ensure the progress of IT processes in a controlled framework.
 
Al Madani stated that RTA was privileged with landing this prestigious Award; which reflects yet another success of the RTA in the IT field. The Dubai Financial Control Department Award gives the RTA a good impetus for the RTA to redouble its efforts in the Governance of IT standards & systems. RTA clinched the Award following highly competitive submissions featuring participation from various government departments.
 
Commenting on the event Abdullah Al Bastaki said: “RTA is applying latest IT practices and applications; with due consideration assigned to the Governance of IT standards. The process is based on COBIT specifications within specific IT governance and control processes applicable at the RTA, spanning 34 key processes in various aspects including project management and financial risks among others. These measures are intended to bring excellence and success in the management of RTA technological processes”.
 
The Dubai Government Financial Control Dep’t presents this Award annually; based on an initiative from Information Technology Governance Assurance Forum (ITGAF) to encourage and honour the agencies to perpetuate the culture of IT governance and ensure its effectiveness. The Award, which was launched in 2006, provides a good platform to motivate IT employees to continually improve their performance and catch up with the best practices worldwide.
