The Oxford School hosts annual Islamic Competition 2010

- This competition is the only one of its kind in the UAE held exclusively for British and American Curriculum schools
Dubai - The Oxford School, one of the leading British curriculum institutions in Dubai, yesterday hosted its annual Islamic Competition at its premises. The contest, which was open to all the British and American curriculum schools in the UAE, received an overwhelming response with as many as 13 schools participating at this year’s event. The Oxford School was declared the overall champions of the competition with the Westminster School coming in a close second, followed by second runners up, Al Sadiq Islamic English School.
The event had children from various schools in Dubai competing in the recitation of the Holy Quran, Islamic Quiz and Public Speaking. The competition for girls was held on February 4, 2010 with 13 schools comprising of 62 students participating in the competition. The boys competed on February 6, 2010 with 11 schools and 46 participants vying to for the top prize.
The judges at the event were from the Markaz Al Dawa. They expressed their happiness and satisfaction at the vast knowledge that the students have on Islamic affairs. They also commended the efforts of the Oxford School in organizing such a competition. The Oxford School is the first British/American Curriculum institution to organize and host an event of such nature.
Commenting on the event, Ms. Nikhat Rahman, Principal, The Oxford School Dubai, said, “The competition has been organized to develop the students’ knowledge in Islamic affairs and activities. The level of knowledge and skills that have been on display in the course of this competition has been overwhelming.”

At the same time, we want the students to have fun while learning, without compromising on the quality of the education they receive. The shared vision of Oxford School is one that enables students to achieve their potential within a multi-cultural learning environment that is safe, positive, respectful, inclusive and welcoming so as to become successful world citizens,” she added.
The Oxford School offers an education based on the English National Curriculum, delivered through the medium of English.
