  •  Regional Conference at CABSAT MENA to Discuss Opportunities Within Digital Transition;

  • Satellite MENA Summit to Focus on Broadband Satellite and Hybrid Wireless Applications

As the demand for higher quality digital broadcasting services gains momentum in the MENA region, broadcasters must be equipped to embrace the digital boom, according to Jamal Al Sharif, Executive Director, Dubai Studio City, the keynote speaker at this year’s CABSAT MENA 2010 Broadcasting Conference.

The free-to-attend conference runs alongside CABSAT MENA 2010, the region’s leading international satellite communication and digital media event, taking place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) from 2- 4 March 2010.

“With the economic recovery in sight, the Middle East broadcasting industry is now looking at new technologies to drive the move to a fully-integrated digital broadcasting platform,” said Al Sharif. “The Middle East is embracing the move to enhanced digital broadcasting, which will ultimately produce savings for broadcasters in terms of reduced operational costs and make services more competitive by enhancing the consumer experience.”

Other key speakers at this year’s CABSAT MENA 2010 Broadcasting Conference include Sharad Sadhu, Director, Technical Department, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union; Jonathan Crofts, Managing Business Consultant, Sony Professional; Carl Furgusson, Vice President, Product Management, TANDBERG Television, part of the Ericsson Group; and Steve Oetegenn, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Verimatrix.

The topics discussed will offer delegates high-level information and real-life experiences in digital HDTV, enhanced digital radio and file based production, both from within the MENA region and from other parts of the world. The tracks provide a great insight into the MENA digital media industry and equip companies with the tools needed to capitalise on the huge growth potential in the region.

Running alongside the CABSAT MENA exhibition is Satellite MENA, the definitive international satellite event for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Satellite MENA also provides a dedicated knowledge exchange platform through this year’s GVF MENASAT Summit 2010, entitled ‘The MENA Communications Knowledge Exchange: Development Dynamics in the Broadband Satellite & Hybrid Wireless Applications Market’.

The summit will bring together leading companies to identify and discuss the development of new opportunities in satellite and satellite-hybrid services and technologies.

Many leading companies will be making presentations during the summit including Access Partnership, Advantech Satellite Networks, Application Technology Strategy, Arab Advisors Group, Astra Broadband, Avanti Communications, MenaNets, Northern Sky Research and Satellite Action Plan – Regulatory Working Group (SAP–REG).

Nearly 700 exhibitors will be participating at this year’s CABSAT MENA and Satellite MENA from more than 50 countries around the world, including leading companies such as Al Mazroui, Al Yahsat, AMT, Arabsat, Avid, Blusens, EuroStar, Fujinon, Harris, Hewlett Packard, Hitachi, Horizon Satellite Services, MediaCast, Nilesat, Noorsat, Satcom Global, Sony, Venutech, VSAT, and Wasp 3D.

“CABSAT MENA and Satellite MENA are the bellweather industry exhibitions for Digital Media and Satellite communications throughout the MENA region and companies come from all over the world to discover the latest technology and discuss future trends,” said David Roberts, Industry Group Manager, Dubai World Trade Centre. “The Broadcasting Conference and GVF MENASAT Summit are much-anticipated events that will provide a dedicated knowledge exchange environment to help companies expand and break into buoyant MENA market.”

Both the Broadcasting Conference and GVF MENASAT Summit are free to attend for registered trade visitors. Interested delegates can register online at www.cabsat.com or www.satelittemena.com

CABSAT MENA and Satellite MENA 2010 will run from 2 – 4 March 2010 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibitions are strictly for trade and business visitors only. Visitors under the age of 18 will not be permitted entry. The show timings are 11am – 7pm on 2 – 3 March and 11am to 5pm on 4 March 2010.
