  • Investment and Growth Strategies, Carbon Trading and Cloud Computing to Take Centre Stage at Forum; International Experts to Focus on Critical Industry Challenges

Data Centre Strategies Middle East is set to take the stage for the second successive year, as the IT’s Data Centre industry in the region continues to show increased investment and growth, according to BroadGroup, a global management consultancy specialised in the IT and telecommunications sector and organiser of the event.

To be held on 3-4 May in Abu Dhabi, the three day forum and exhibition will attract influential IT experts and decision makers in the data centre industry from all over the region to gain strategic industry insights and discuss how to strengthen their foothold in the market for the long term. Leading operators and investors in managed services, outsourcing and cloud computing services sectors, including HP, the diamond sponsor and Injazat Data Systems who is patron of the event will also be present.

Highlights of the event include a Middle East Leadership Roundtable, where CIOs from prominent organisations will discuss critical challenges for the data centre industry, including investment and growth strategies, carbon trading for data centres and cloud computing. A green efficiency focus session will also take place looking at advantages of reducing energy to power and cool data centres. Workshops on data centre security, best practices and virtualization, as well as data centre architecture and design will also be held during the event.

And, for the first time, the forum will host the Data Centre Strategies Middle East Awards to recognise remarkable achievements among service providers and individuals in the region’s IT service industry. The awards to be handed out will recognise the Best New Entrant in Middle East Data Centre; Best Colocation Middle East Facility; Best Data Centre Middle East Region; Best Middle East Green Initiative; Best New Cloud Services Middle East Region; Best Sustainable Data Centre Design Middle East Region; Best Managed Services Provider Middle East Region; Best Disaster Recovery Provider Middle East 2010 and Middle East CTO Award for Innovation in Data Centres. There will also be a Judges Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Data Centre Sector Award (CEO Award) and a Special Award for Innovation and Education in the Data Centre Sector Middle East 2010.

Philip Low, Managing Director, BroadGroup, said: “We are seeing evidence of tremendous growth in the data centre sector across the region, particularly among enterprises. As sustained development and investment continue in the sector, players are striving to differentiate their service offerings, create new digital hubs and exploit the emerging opportunities offered by cloud computing.

“This year will combine a learning experience with a wide range of expertise, an outstanding networking platform and an accelerated business opportunity through the unique awards ceremony and exhibition at the flagship event.”

Following on from its success last year, the forum has been designed to bring together a host of IT players across the IT lifecycle including data centre operators, service providers, telcos, network infrastructure providers, managed services specialists, systems integrators, enterprise and government IT directors, property and investment firms, law firms, professional intermediaries, consulting firms, regulatory bodies, and supplier organizations.

With an academy of international speakers, experts and delegates from enterprise user companies, operators and owners, technical specialists, investors, vendors and consultancies, Data Centre Strategies will ask vital questions about the latest issues and developments in the sector that impact the operation and planning of data centre businesses.
