Football fans given chance to see the stars up close

Dubai’s football fans will have a chance to get up close to their favourite stars when AC Milan begin their Winter Training Camp in the city next week.

The seven-time UEFA Champions League winners will arrive in Dubai on Monday and have opened two of their training sessions to the public. The first of these will be their afternoon training session on Tuesday, December 30th at Al Nasr Club.

This will allow football fans to watch the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho - both of whom are FIFA World Player of the Year winners - Paolo Maldini, and of course new loan signing David Beckham in action as they are put through their paces by AC Milan coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

Tuesday’s training session will take place from 5-6.30pm and access to the Al Nasr Club will be free of charge. A second training session next week will also be open to the public. This will take place on the morning of Friday, January 2 from 9.30am to 12pm.

“It’s not every day you can see such a phenomenal collection of players such as Ronaldinho, Kaka, Shevchenko, Pato and Beckham in training. This is a wonderful opportunity for football fans in Dubai to do just that as the AC Milan stars prepare for the upcoming season,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Senior Vice President Commercial Operations - Gulf, Middle East & Iran.

“We are certain that there will be a massive response to this invitation to the public, who will make the most of this unique opportunity to see their sports heroes up close. Once they have been given a taste of the action in training, they are sure to come back for more when AC Milan take on Hamburg SV in the Dubai Football Challenge on January 6. With tickets for that match selling fast, we are encouraging the public to buy their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment,” added Kazim.

AC Milan will be in Dubai for their Winter Training Camp from December 29 – January 7, 2009. This will culminate in the Emirates and DTCM-sponsored Dubai Football Challenge where they will take on Hamburg SV on January 6. The Dubai Football Challenge match, which forms part of the Footballs World Series, will take place at Emirates’ new sports venue “The Sevens” on the Al Ain road. Kickoff is at 7pm.
